Local Attractions

The nearest shops and facilities are at Long Buckby - a thriving village approximately three miles away. Here there is a wide range of services including a bank, post office, two supermarkets, a family run butchers shop, chemist and gift shop selling locally produced crafts. There are a number of good restaurants - Indian, Chinese, Italian - and take away fish and chips, pizza, Chinese and Indian.

Local towns such as Daventry, Rugby, Milton Keynes and Leicester are only a short drive away and there is also a mainline railway station at Long Buckby with direct services to London and Birmingham. We are only 8 miles from Northampton and 20 minutes from the M1, M6 and A14 offering easy access to the Midlands and beyond. Birmingham International is our nearest airport.

Coton Manor, Guilsborough

A ten acre garden occupying a hillside position extending down from a 17th century manor house is noted for its luxuriant borders using a wide range of unusual plants.

Althorp, Northampton

The home of the Spencer family. Concerts and events.

Cottesbrooke, Northampton

Cottesbrooke Hall and Gardens: 18th century English and French furniture. Fine English, continental and Chinese porcelain. 18th century landscaping, the gardens are of great variety with fine old cedars and specimen trees.

Northampton Saints, Northampton

Heart of the Shires Shopping Village, Weedon

Boughton Park, Boughton

Extensive remains of formal gardens of late 17th and early 18th century, including a lily pool set around a country house.

Naseby Battlefield, Market Harborough

The decisive battle of the English Civil War was fought here on the morning of the 14th June 1645. After nearly three years of conflict, Parliament's New Model Army destroyed King Charles I's main field army.

Warwick Castle

This is one of England's finest castles and provides an excellent day out. The castle has a large number of attractions aimed at children however also provides tours and exhibitions for adults. This is one of our favourite attractions (we take our grandchildren) and is really worth a visit. (50 minutes by car from our holiday cottages)

Silverstone Circuit

Silverstone offers a variety of attractions from the major international events such as Formula 1 and MotoGP to individual rally experiences. (Approx 30 minutes by car from our cottages)

Old Dairy Farm Centre

Relaxed shopping and crafts in a lovely rural setting.

National Space Centre, Leicester

Thomas Land

A very popular attraction for families with younger children, Thomas Land offers a dozen rides and plenty of entertainment within a few acres of park meaning there isn't too far to walk. Please check seasonal opening times. (1 hour by car from our holiday cottages)
